World Cup Day 2026
World Cup Day 2026 is a wrap! We were finally able to trade our rain jackets for sunscreen. This year it was a little extra special, as we got to kick off our annual World Cup Day while the Canada co-hosts the FIFA World Cup.
Here are our stats:
-All 286 Rocky Knights players, plus alumni were invited to participate
-Kickoff was at 1:00pm, and the final whistle blew at 12:15am
-72 matches were played across all age groups
U5 and U7 played with their Timbits teams, while the U9 and U11+ age groups are mixed into new teams for the day, giving them an opportunity to play with new team mates, and in the case of U11-U19, play with other age groups.
The U5s and U7s played a festival style, and finished of with their Timbits medals presentation. MVP awards were also awarded for heart, hustle and sportsmanship
The U9 House leaguers and U9 Development league players arrived at noon to learn which team they would be playing on for the day. Knight of the Game and Sportsmanship awards were given out each game.

Gold: Team Luke
Silver: Team MacEwen
Bronze: Team Sinclair
Our U11s through U15s, as well as some alumni who would have been eligible for U17 or U19 this season, also arrived at noon, to be divided into teams for the day. Each team had a few players from each age group, This was a nail biter pool with a ton of close games! We saw our older players setting up plays with our younger players, and just overall great teamwork and fun! Knight of the Game and Sportsmanship awards were also given out each game in this pool. Congrats to our U11+ medal winners:

Bronze: Team Cale
A day like this takes an entire community to orchestrate.
